MAKES A SPLASH AT THE HOUSTON BOAT SHOW

The Discover Boating Center returns this year to awaken Houstonians to the world of water thrills at the 2003 Houston Summer Boat Show at Reliant Center, July 9-13.

The Discover Boating Center is an unmanned boating display that allows show-goers to learn about the fun and affordability of recreational boating. It features a variety of boats, from runabouts, to pontoon, to aluminum fishing boats, that can be purchased for $199 a month or less. Show-goers are free to gaze at the boats and peruse the available information without the pressure of a salesperson.

The fish are always biting at the FM 100.3 KILT Fish-O-Rama at the 2003 Houston Summer Boat Show July 9-13 at the Reliant Center. The FM 100.3 KILT Fish-O-Rama is a great opportunity for everyone from 1 to 100 to experience the fun of fishing. You can bait your own hook or we'll do it for you! Then get ready for the challenge of reeling in a rainbow trout.

Throughout the week, FM 100.3 KILT will contribute prizes to be given away when a fish is caught in the "live" Fish-O-Rama tank. In addition, FM 100.3 KILT'S party squad will be on site at The Boat Show on Saturday, July 12 th and Sunday, July 13th, passing out prizes and letting show attendees test their luck and register to win a gift certificate to Pappas Seafood Restaurant!

Don't miss Twiggy, the world-famous water-skiing squirrel, as she splashes her way into the 2003 Houston Summer Boat Show, July 9th - 13th, at the Reliant Center.

Twiggy, a Florida gray squirrel, is a unique sight as she glides around a 25-foot circular heated pool on a miniature pair of water skis, towed behind a remote-controlled Ski Nautique powerboat.

The Twiggy dynasty began in 1978 when Chuck and Lou Ann Best took in a gray squirrel after Hurricane David blew her from her treetop nest. The couple, avid water skiers, wanted to introduce the new family member to their favorite water sport. Using repetition, affection, and an ample supply of nuts, they taught Twiggy to ski on foot-long skies behind one of their children's remote controlled boats. People began to take notice of this extraordinary feat and bookings poured in.

Having recently returned from Paris, Twiggy has a resume to make any world-class skier jealous. Twiggy has been featured on TV shows such as "Rosie O'Donnell Show" and "Good Morning America", as well as boat shows and fairs around the globe. Over 24 years, Lou Ann Best and several Twiggies have done hundreds of shows. The show stopped only when Chuck died in 1997. He dived off his boat to save his stepfather from drowning. He saved the old man but suffered a heart attack and died. When Lou Ann finally went back on the road with Twiggy No. 4, she dressed the squirrel in a tiny lifejacket and incorporated humorous water safety lectures to the performance.
